NFR GAVE RS785 CRORE CONTRACT TO HCC

Webdesk, TNI Guwahati, 21st July, 2015: There is a good reason to hope that the new railway line between Jiribam and Tupul will be completed within timeline as HCC has got its 4th contract for the project. Today, infrastructure giant HCC (Hindustan Construction Company Ltd) has got a Rs 785 Crore contract from NFR (Northeast Frontier Railway) in a joint venture with Coastal Projects Ltd. “The contract is for developing a 9.5-kilometer tunnel between Tupul-Imphal for new Railway line project from Jiribam-Tupul. The share of HCC in the JV is 60 per cent which is Rs 471 crore,” the company said. Previously HCC has got three projects of constructing tunnel of 3.25 km, 3.3 km and 4.9 km between Dholakal and Kaimai, Kambiron and Thingou, and between Kaimai and Kambiron respectively. HCC is also constructing the 4.315 km long Bogibeel Rail-cum-road Bridge over river Brahmaputra near Dibrugarh, Assam for Northeast Frontier Railway. “HCC is proud to receive the fourth order from Northeast Frontier Railway. It is a testament to the confidence enjoyed by the Company in successfully executing complex tunneling work. HCC with its sound engineering expertise and committed team is all set to leverage the opportunities in the infrastructure space,” HCC President & CEO- E&C Arun Karambelkar said. The HCC Group comprises HCC Ltd, HCC Infrastructure Co Ltd, Lavasa Corporation Ltd and Steiner AG of Switzerland. The group as a whole is having a turnover of Rs. 10,353 Crore. However, this new railway line is a demand of a long time and common people of North East are just waiting for the opening of the new railway line.
